THE FOLDING KNIFE

These robust and easy-to-operate little knives rely on a unique forged tang design, which helps keep the blade open during use and directs any force away from the pivot pin and into the handle. The size and super simple, non-locking, ‘friction folder’ design make them UK street legal (and therefore also legal in practically every other part of the world)!

We’ve forged these knives from small offcuts of our precious stainless-clad Aogami Super steel. This combination offers the best of both worlds: carbon steel for cutting performance and sharpenability, with layers of stainless steel on each side for ease of maintenance. They are ground in the ‘Scandi’ style, which means they have short, flat bevels that taper to almost nothing before a micro bevel is applied. This style of grind is not only very strong but also quick and easy to sharpen.

This year’s pocket knives also feature bronze handles, something we have been developing for a long time. Finding a foundry prepared to work with us on this fiddly design wasn’t easy, but a small firm in Devon stepped up to the task and has done a wonderful job casting and fettling these components. Once delivered to us, the handles have been burnished and patinated, leaving a dark finish which, over time and with use, should pick up beautiful highlights.

James has also been experimenting with some new packaging materials and has had some beautiful boxes folded up by W. MacCarthy & Sons, a local 5th-generation, family-run business established in 1880. They have used a textured recycled card with an unusual perforated corner fold detail. Inside, we have made some natural cork inserts to keep the blades safe on their journey to you.

Integral Duo

This pair of twisted Damascus knives, featuring integral bolsters with dovetail jointed metal handles, represents Jon’s most ambitious project to date. Over the past two months, Jon has refined a complex forging process and gone through countless design tweaks to create these knives. This is Jon’s first attempt at integral bolster forging, where the top of the handle and the blade are forged out of a single billet of steel. This creates a seamless transition between the blade and handle with the twisted Damascus pattern flowing through both.

The bolsters have a dovetail joint cut into them that fits precisely with the removable handles. Each knife is equipped with an anodized aluminum handle that has been expertly hollowed out, reducing bulk while maintaining strength. Despite their size, these knives are surprisingly lightweight, with a balance point just below the Blenheim Forge stamp.

As an optional extra, we are offering brass handles that are slightly heavier but have been hollowed out further to bring the balance point of the knife right to the top of the handle.

Both knives come with a custom fitted sheath by Harry from Owen Leather.

The Chef

This full-sized blade features a long, tall profile with a classic design. The blade is relatively flat along the first two-thirds, with a gradual curve towards the tip. The entire face of the blade is ground and polished with a subtle convex that tapers thinly behind the edge, delivering outstanding cutting performance.

Dimensions
*Blade length – 235mm
*Overall length – 380mm
*Blade thickness – 4mm
*Blade Depth – 50mm

The Petty

With its narrow and pointed profile, the petty knife boasts a thick spine that tapers dramatically to a fine tip. The flat and steep grind geometry ensures the blade is thin behind the edge, making it ideal for delicate tasks while retaining enough weight for a comfortable and controlled grip.

*Blade length – 120mm
*Overall length – 230mm
*Blade thickness – 4.5mm
*Blade Depth – 27mm

Materials
*Blade – Damascus high carbon steel
*Handle – Aluminium or Brass
